Former Mister Kentucky Basketball in 2019...who was ranked in the Top 75 by Rival. Dontaie finished his high school career with 3,255 career points, ranking 11th all-time in state history at the time… Grabbed 1,228 career rebounds, the 22nd-best in the state’s record books… Averaged 42.9 points and 14.2 boards in his limited 13 senior games due to a torn ACL in December 2018. Dontaie was a Pangos All-American and attended Pendleton County HS in Kentucky.
Dontaie began his college career playing at University of Kentucky where he played in 18 games as a redshirt sophomore in 2021-22, averaging 6.7 minutes per outing. He appeared in 22 games in the 2020-21 season finishing second on the team with 31 3-pointers on 39.7% shooting from the arc. He is only the sixth freshman in school history to make seven or more 3-pointers in a game and was named SEC Freshman of the Week in 2021.
In 2022, Dontaie transfered to Western Kentucky University where in his first year when starting, averaged 13.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per game and shot 41.6% from beyond the arc (32-77) in 32.0 minutes. He returned in 2023, where he averaged 8.2 points and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting a team-high 40.0% from beyond the arc (56-140) and averaging 20.8 minutes per outing.
Dontaie finished his collegiate career at University of Wyoming where he averaged 8.2 points per game and three rebounds shooting a team-best 40 percent from behind the arc with 56 makes. He scored a season-high 30 points against Florida International and scored in double-figures 11 times.
